About

Samantha Guertin is an observational artist living on the East Sussex coast. She predominantly paints landscapes, seascapes and still lifes. Her direct approach to her subjects strives to capture immediacy, atmosphere and authenticity of light and feeling. She takes her inspiration from the unrelenting beauty of nature and the countryside and spends much of her time recording the world immediately around her through sketching , photography, and plein air painting.

Samantha studied her foundation at Wimbledon and completed her BA (Hons) degree at Camberwell School of Art, London. In her early twenties she left her London studio to travel and work first in Brazil and then more long term in Madrid. The landscapes and cityscapes in Spain set her on a more on a painterly path away from her original discipline of ceramic sculpture.

Now working in and around her St Leonards on Sea studio, Samantha has established herself through private commissions worldwide as well as exhibiting regularly.
